The HI38000-10 are high quality reagents that are pre-measured, allowing for users to achieve fast and accurate sulfate measurements with the chemical test kit. These reagents follow the barium chloride turbidimetric method to determine sulfate concentration.
For determination of sulfate, the barium chloride reagent is added to an acidified sample. The reaction between sulfate ions and the reagent creates a barium sulfate suspension. The supplied glass test tube is then filled slowly with the reacted sample. When the black indicating spot on the bottom of the test tube is no longer visible, the level of liquid in the test tube indicates the concentration of sulfate in mg/L (ppm). These reagents are designed to be used with samples that have an expected sulfate range of 20 to 30 mg/L and 30 to 100 mg/L.
