The Thermo Scientific Superfrost Plus slides are made by a process that places a permanent positive charge on the slide. Tissue sections and cytological preparations adhere better to Plus glass slides without the need for labor intensive special adhesive or protein coatings. Plus slides virtually eliminate background staining in standard H&E stains.
Improves Adhesion with Positive Charged Slides
Superfrost® Plus slides hold tissue sections without the need for expensive coating steps in the laboratory. This treatment virtually eliminates tissue loss during staining as well as hours of slide preparation. Electrostatically attracts frozen tissue sections and cytology preparations, binding them to the slide. Available in 25 x 75 x 1 mm and 1 x 3 in.
Instructions for Use
Float your 2 to 5 micron thick tissue sections on a pre-heated distilled water bath. Do not add glue or subbing solution to the bath. The Superfrost Plus slide pretreatment eliminates the need for these compounds. (Note: You may try substituting tap water for distilled water. However, if you begin losing tissue sections, use only distilled.) Mount your tissue sections carefully. Tissue bonding begins quickly on Superfrost Plus slides. Dry slides completely at room temperature by vertically draining them before heating them in an oven or on a hot plate.
